Is there Whale Watching in Bayahibe? That is a very frequently asked question. We have seen humpback whales in our area for the past few years as well, but we don’t see them all the time and there is no guarantee you will see any during your vacation in Bayahibe. When you go to Samaná peninsula on the north, there is 99% chance you will and it is an unforgettable experience. The official season for the whale watching is from January 15 till March 15, but most of the time you could see them till mid April.
You will be picked up in the morning at the resort around 7 AM by a bus that will take you to Miches. It is about 2 hour ride through the Dominican countryside, so enjoy the beautiful scenery. After the arrival to the ranch you will have a nice breakfast, then boarding the boat to start the “whale show”. When you get back to the shore a yummy lunch will be ready for you, after that you can relax for a bit before going back to the bus to return to Bayahibe. On the way back you will stop at the local colmado for some cold Presidente, you can also buy the typical Dominican products like coffee and rum for local prices. The expected time to be back at the resorts is between 5 – 6 PM.
